In the Könnölä area you can spend a relaxing time in nature, walking, rowing and swimming.
If you want to enjoy culture and shopping, head to the nearby Iittala village or Hämeenlinna.
Bath in a traditional smoke sauna
An old-fashioned high-loft smoke sauna has been built on the Könnölä estate in Hämeenlinna, on the shore of Ruokalampi Pond. Its benches can accommodate 12 people at a time to enjoy the steam. From the heat of the smoke sauna, you can take a dip in the refreshing water of the pond. If the pond water feels too cool, a 40-degree Celcius hot tub is a worthwhile option.
Get outdoors in beautiful nature
There are beautiful outdoor areas around the Könnölä farm. You can also take a trip to our hut, which is located about 3 km from our cottages. Next to the hut is nature's own attraction, Pirunnostokivi, where a huge stone balances on top of a smaller rock. Directions to the hut and a map of the area's outdoor trails can be found in the cottage's information folder. You can rent a bicycle or fat bike and snowshoes from the farm. In winter, the area has a cross-country ski trail and a sledding hill, if snow conditions are permitting.
Enjoy nature's delicacies
Fish all year round
There are several small forest ponds near the farm and a larger lake Takajärvi. A fishing permit is not required when fishing with a reelless rod or ice fishing. The cottage ponds are home to perch, roach and pike, among others. With the exception of Myllytupa and Koivumäki, the cottages have their own rowing boats. Life jackets can be borrowed from our farm. There are no fishing equipment at the cottages.
In summer, it is possible to inquire about borrowing a rowing boat on Takajärvi from the nearby Suviranta.
Swin in clean lakes all year round
Könnölä cottages, except for Koivumäki, have their own beach and pier. The waters of the ponds are clean. Koivumäki residents can swim in our smoke sauna´s beach, about 400 meters from the cottage. Two SUP boards can be rented from the farm.
In winter, ice swimming is possible at Villa Emälampi, Hautalampi A and B cottages, Kaivolampi and Myllytupa.
Visit Iitala village
Iittala is known as a village of crafts, design and art, with over 100,000 visitors annually. The Iittala Glass Factory and Glass Museum, the Iittala Store and the area's boutiques and café are open all year round. The Glass village area also hosts Naivistit Iittalassa, which organizes exhibitions on naive art in summer and winter. The distance from Könnölä is about 10 km.
Visit Hämeenlinna town
Hämeenlinna offers nature experiences in Aulanko and Ahvenisto, history in museums and the medieval Hämeen Castle, shopping, delicious food and various events. You can find up-to-date information on the Hämeenlinna's tourism website, and we are happy to give you tips if you need something to do on your holiday. The centre of Hämeenlinna is about 20 km away.
